The KLX230R S is just the bike for riders who want an off-roader that will take them literally anywhere their heart desires. And for 2027, this fun to ride machine comes as standard with a low seat height making off-road thrills available to even more riders*. 

Combining the slimmed down race looks of an off-road racer with everyday convenience, the KLX230R S boasts a key based ignition system and the range reassurance a large fuel 7.6L fuel tank plus a low fuel warning light for assured off-road enjoyment.

The seat subframe coupled with a lower and more comfortable seat plus aggressive KX-inspired styling places it in line with other models in Kawasaki’s off-road lineup. The subframe traces a lower line and, though the seat height is lower at 875 mm, front and rear wheel travel remains impressive at 220 mm and 217 mm respectively with ground clearance at a useful 270 mm.

The recent addition of a balancer to the sturdy electric-start six speed 233 cm3 single-cylinder four-stroke SOHC engine offers added smoothness and tractability plus a useful supply of power in the low to mid-range. With a maximum power of 13.8 kW {19 PS} @8,000rpm and a maximum torque value of 19.6 Nm @6,400rpm, the KLX230R S is powerful enough for a lifetime of exploring.

Paired to this easy to maintain yet effective engine is a chassis that has been fine-tuned through Kawasaki test rider feedback for the ideal engine-chassis balance. Ideally suited front and rear wheel sizes (21”/18”) give the KLX230R S a sure-footed feel over a variety of surfaces and a steep rake (caster angle) (26.5° >> 25.4°) contributes to light handling while the short 1,355 mm wheelbase contributes to the bike’s easy handling and manoeuvrability.

At the rear, Uni-Trak rear suspension offers ample wheel travel for a planted feel and excellent bump absorption while the tyres feature bead stoppers which allow lower pressures to be used when required. When the road ahead is challenging, the rugged and reliable KLX230R S is poised to perform and ready to ride!
